It is incomprehensible how Serbian society in this day and age deals with science and art if it is not folklore or mainstream. Allow me to introduce you to one of the worlds greatest mihajlo-petrovic-mika-alasminds in the field of differential calculus, practical founder of cryptography in the Balkans and the person nominated numerous times for president of the Serbian Academy of Science. Due to his sexual orientation he was considered as a renegade, and better known as Mika Alas (1868-1943).

Strange sea creature – Frilled shark

Considered a living fossils, frilled shark bear many physical characteristics of ancestors who swam the seas in the time of the dinosaurs usually remains in deep water up to 1.5 km. Specimen on the picture is 1.6-meter long was found in shallow water in Japan in 2007 and transferred to a marine park where died hours after being caught. So human isn`t it?

Navigating Erie Canal, Hudson River to New York City and sailing south to Hampton, VA

I know it took me more than wanted to put new post on this blog. Reasons for that were far more serious than me just being lazy. I’ve never anticipated to be 33 and get sick to the point my life is in danger? I always thought of myself being active and therefore healthy… Well, that is obviously not entirely true! Thanks to great great people I got second chance to live.

Back to our sailing adventure. Like I wrote above it took me way to long to write about sailing on the Erie canal and now we are to far from there and I want to write few lines about it as well. I will do my best to cover the Erie canal adventure in more details some other time.
